Golf Peaks

So...

I'm a liar, but! We have a new post now!

Golf Peaks is a single-player puzzle game where you climb Peaks and play Golf, created by Afterburn Games and originally released in 2018. It's won awards. More qualified journalists have written on it extensively. I've lost more than a fair amount of my studying time to this game.

My brother, the actual Gamer™ in the family, always talked about Mobile Game Hell and how it can never be escaped. Ive watched him despair over having to read and keeping up with his dailies and the chaos brought on by developers' whims. I don't know if it's cause I like puzzle games that I'm bad at or if he's just into gatcha games with cute anime girls but phone games are super fun in my limited experience.

Now, I don't know much about golf, or any sport really outside of hockey, but I do know about skeeball and puzzles, which feels like pretty close seconds to this game.

So funky landscapes open with move cards? I dont know what they're supposed to be called but cards on the screen under the peaks that lets you move however many spaces they're worth, whether in a line or through jumps.

Ever changing landscapes that get harder and harder to puzzle through the longer you play.

Golf Peaks is quick, it's fun, it's on the Tetris end of the Chores or Tetris debate and it is still installed on my phone several weeks later. It feels like a fidget cube.

This is literally my new short flight game.
